Grow Boi.. Ex chef turned micro scale market gardener Jackson Bennett, operating a ‘no till’ organic market garden, in the Adelaide Hills utilising permaculture principles.

Here at ‘Terracura Farm’ (translation = earth care) .. in cool climate Carey Gully, all my produce is grown using organic permaculture principles with a strong focus on building microbial life in the soil structure and a thriving biodiversity above and below the ground.

We are ultra local (only 15minutes from CBD centre) and deliver fresh produce to the majority of Adelaide suburbs (delivery map on CSA page).

We don’t till or use large machinery or tractors, the largest engine we utilise is a Honda push mower!

"If more people are farming successfully, we can replace mass production with the multiplication of small ecological farms so we can feed our communities with fresh, healthy, nourishing food, and have vibrant agrarian communities." - Jean-Martin Fortier

Improving our relationship with food

I believe many of us have completely lost our connection with food.

In the age of ‘Uber’ deliveries, fast food ‘drive thrus’, and frozen packaged ‘heat and eat’ meals.. our newest generation are losing skills that some would argue may be our most important?

What are we putting into our bodies? So often void of nutrients, are we trading our health for our time?

Where does our food come from? Half the time we don’t even know.

From monoculture farming to the atrocities animals face in industrialised meat farms, we are damaging our planet, our health and allowing living beings to suffer unnecessarily in return for often out of season, chemically ripened, over packaged produce that does little for our well being.

I believe the industrialisation of our food industry was a step too far.

Farming DOES NOT translate well to large scale business.

I want to bring back the small scale farmer.

Even with the constant population increase and housing development, everywhere I look there is empty land. Just sitting there, screaming to be farmed.

You don’t need a large space, to make a difference.

Grow food for your household. Grow food for your family, neighbours and friends.

Grow food for those who cant.

If you are meat inclined, raise an animal with respect and share it among a few households.

Make food, affordable and transparent. Eat to the seasons.

Bring back soul food, bring back cooking.

A new (old) food system. I promise you we’ll never look back.
